The Kashmir of Kerala, Kanthalloor in Idukki district is a serene village known for its cool, balmy weather all through the year. Nestled in the Western Ghats along the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border, the village is a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.
The hamlet is around 50 km from Munnar and is located on the route towards Udumalaipettai on SH 17. A photogenic place, Kanthalloor is surrounded by lush green hills, deep echoing valleys and vast farm fields.
Due to its mild climate, the village situated at a height of 5,000 ft above sea level is home to a wide variety of crops that are not found elsewhere in Kerala. We can find varieties of orange, strawberry, blackberry, plum, gooseberry, peach, passion fruit and much more. It is also the only place in Kerala where apple is cultivated, and tourists can buy fresh apples directly from farmhouses. Undertaking a trip to fruit farms will be a novel and refreshing experience.
