. Unity Group takes a holistic approach to alcohol rehabilitation and drug rehabilitation including various therapy sessions, yoga, mental health and nutritional information as part of the process.

Unity Group is an organization established for social welfare activities in Ernakulum district with special emphasis for emancipation of individuals engulfed in social tragedies like alcoholism, drug abuse, smoking and criminal activities. Though it started in 1980’s it was registered on 19th September 1990 under the Travancore Cochin Literary scientific and charitable societies Registration Act. The organizing members were philanthropic social workers emerging from the common starts of the organization entered into institutional care awareness campaigns, counseling service and income generation programme for the family members. Now many professionals, social workers, lawyers and teachers are members of the organization and it has become one of the major voluntary organizations in the state of Kerala.
The organization has its humble voluntary beginning at Thuravoor, a village near Angamaly. It was later shifted to Kaloor, Ernakulum, and the gateway of hill station of Idukki and now it is at Perumbavoor.
Addiction to alcohol or drugs has become the hardest evil of the day and severest hindrance to progress in our country. Any amount of effort to social uplift and development of the poor is obstructed by this terrible giant of immense proportions. To fight this menace “unity group” organized a drug awareness, counseling and assistance Centre in the city of Ernakulum functioning in Kaloor, Centre place of Cochin Corporation, Kerala. Now this Counseling Centre is converted into an integrated rehabilitation Centre for addicts and is functioning at Perumbavoor as per the direction of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
This is a charitable society working for the unfortunate victims of alcoholism and drug addiction. This evil to immense dimensions in our state and is like a python recovering it prey. Not knowing the disastrous consequences, many good intended people start drinking or taking drugs as matter of social formality or fun. But it gradually unfolds its jaws in course of years and hooks its prey hard and tight, never letting it goes out. Over 12000 people have received their toll of relief through our service. There are still more thousands who need the help.
