A young college that is associated with the University of Kerala is called Carmel College. It is situated in Muhamma, a picturesque and tranquil village in the Alappuzha district. In 2014, the College was established. Under the direction of the CMI congregation, the Nazareth Carmel Educational Charitable Trust owns and operates it. Drawing inspiration from their founding father, St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, CMI fathers have established themselves as trend-setters in the field of education. St. Chavara was a great visionary who made important contributions to education, particularly in Kerala's effort to make education accessible to all.

The College now offers four undergraduate programmes, up from just three when it first opened. The courses are B.Com. in Commerce with Computer and Tax Procedure and Practise and B.Com.
