Venniyil Dr.Sukumara Pillai Memorial (VSM) Hospital was started in the year 1992 by a visionary Dr. V.S.Viswanathan in memory of his father Dr. Sukumara Pillai who was himself one of the rare voluntary doctors working in a Leprosy Sanitorium. Dr. V.S. Viswanathan is a very successful doctor running his own Polyclinic in Sharjah and is involved in a wide array of social activities. He is a philanthropist and is an active participant in many efforts to uplift the down trodden, educate poor children, palliative care centers etc. VSM Hospital started as a primary care centre is today one of the most successful hospitals in Central Travancore with 300 beds with all speciality departments and super speciality departments like Nephrology, Neurology, Cardiology, Urology, Orthopedics, It has more than 50 speciality doctors and more than 300 staff members in various categories.Hospital representatives visit all inpatients and enquire their well being and their diet patterns and ready to help them in anyway possible to make their stay as comfortable as possible.
