Sharanalayam is a charitable trust dedicated to social service and philanthropy in Mavelikkara. We also provide day care for the physically and mentally challenged, to help their parents for livelihood. The institution also implements the "hunger free village" concept to deliver food for those struggling to eat in the surrounding areas. Sharanalayam was initiated in 2019.
It is a brainchild of a group of professionals and philanthropists inspired by the ideas of great personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, B.R. Ambedkar, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, Sree Narayana Guru to name a few.
Sharanalayam started functioning in July 2020 in a rented building in Kochikkal, Mavelikara. The NGO was shifted to Pallarimangalam, Thekkekara in December 2022 with the help of kind hearted people. Currently, the organization is fully functioning in Pallarimangalam near the Thekkekara Panchayath Office.
In 2023, Sharanalayalam was registered as Public Charitable Trust under the Registration No. 131/IV/2023 at Mavelikara SRO. Currently, there are 18 inmates residing in and 6 differently abled people in the day care. Around 10 people depend on the organization for their daily meals.
