Principal:The Vellaappally Natesan Shashtiabdapoorthi Smaraka College of Nursing was started in 2004. This institution is attached to the Sankar Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre. As part of extension activities, the college observes days like World TB Day, World Kidney Day, No Tobacco Day etc., by conducting awareness programmes. Seminars and workshops on medically relevant topics like Palliative care, IV cannulations etc., are also regularly held. This institution has received ISO- 9001-2000 certification in internal quality systems. The new building of the college was inaugurated in May 2007. Practical training is given in the Sankar Institute as well as the Government Medical institutions in Kollam and the Institute of Mental Health, Thiruvananthapuram
